Professor William Balchin. 1916-2007. R.I.P

We regret to announce that, after a short illness, our President Professor.W.G.V.Balchin, died at the Troutbeck Nursing Home in Ilkley, West Yorkshire on the 30th of July 2007 aged 91 years.
The Funeral service was held in Leeds on Thursday 9th August 2007 with B.F.S Committee Members attending on behalf of the Society Membership. William's family requested Family flowers only and donations to the Troutbeck Nursing Home where William received every care in his last weeks. Our condolences went to Williams family and a donation has been sent to the Troutbeck by the Society.
Professor William was a Founder Member of our Society and was instrumental in the setting up of the Inaugural meeting of the Balchin Family Society at Guildford in 1994. It was the largest ever Gathering of our family with over 170 Balchin and related family attending, he leaves us a legacy of family unity we must preserve.RPB.
